Daria Foster; director, Lord Abbett Family Of Funds





 



Daria Foster When Daria Foster officially joined the board of directors of the Lord Abbett Family of Funds a year ago, she saw it as more of a continuation rather than a new endeavor. She began at Lord Abbett in 1990 to help build its institutional business. As her responsibilities expanded into the area of defined contribution she was also thrust into the world of mutual funds and had been involved with the board as a non-member for several years. "Thankfully I wasn't in a foreign territory," she joked about joining the board.

Being an inside director, Foster feels she "wears two hats" and can bring two levels of insight to the other board members, specifically on investment management and distribution issues. Foster has always worked closely with the firm's portfolio managers and acts as a liaison between the managers and the board. "I think I bring to them a perspective of what's going on on the money management side with performance and the different styles of asset management," she said.
